Participate in workshops that center on strategies that will help you
teach in, through and about
theatre. Whether you want to integrate the theatre into a general classroom, integrate theatre into
a specific subject area; teach theatre in the classroom, or use theatre in an extra-curricular
setting there will be workshops that fit your needs.
The K-12 Institute is held annually and will be March 4, 2009, in Birmingham, AL.

KEYNOTE
"Devising
Performance In and Out of the Classroom"
Keynote Michael Rohd opened the K-12 Institute with a look at collaboratively created original theatre work with young
people with the possible the intent of learning a subject, developing civic responsibility or creating a production.
Through collaboration, a collision of ideas and responses results in a performance utilizing naturalistic and poetic
techniques useful in educational and community environments. After discussing his process and several projects, he will
led participants through a brief devising experience.
Special nationally recognized workshop leaders included Michael Rohd, Daniel Stein
as well as leaders from American Alliance for Theatre and Education, Southeast Center for Education
in the Arts, Kentucky Alliance for Arts Education and the Tennessee Alliance for Arts Education.

out what you need to qualify for Continuing Education Units (CEUs). SETC is happy to provide
