No Teacher Left Behind: Inside, Outside and Beyond the Classroom

 Institute for K-12 Teachers
Wednesday, March 4, 2009
8:15 AM – 6:00 PM

2009 K-12 Institute Schedule

Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex
Presented by the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC) in collaboration with
American Alliance for Theatre Educators (AATE)

Participate in workshops that center on strategies that will help you teach in, through and about theatre.

  • Examine what you can to do in the classroom to build and sustain a viable theatre curriculum.
  • Locate and learn how to utilize the resources that can support your theatre programming.
  • Whether you want to integrate the theatre into a general classroom, integrate theatre into a specific subject area; teach theatre in the classroom, or use theatre in an extra-curricular setting there will be workshops that fit your needs.

SETC and AATE share a vision of the importance of Theatre Arts in the classroom, and we are excited to be working together to present a day where educators can gather resources and knowledge for use in the classroom and beyond.

The 4th Annual K-12 Institute is open to all who are interested in furthering theatres arts for K-12 students. The day's workshops will range from theory to practice and will include topics such as: drama games across the curriculum, technical theatre for the school setting, productions on a budget, communicating the value of the arts to administrators, and much more! Time will be allocated to network, process, and exchange ideas. Lunch roundtable topics let you choose your discussions while the dessert-panel explores Collaboration: Creating the Comprehensive Dramatic Experience for the Student in the School Setting and Beyond.

Please join us for this exciting and important day of networking and professional development.
