Scholarships & Awards for Graduate Study in Theatre

Each year, the Southeastern Theatre Conference awards more than $15,000 in scholarships for graduate study in areas of theatre, directing, acting, musical theatre and costume design and technology. Scholars are recognized at the SETC Annual Convention.  SETC celebrates the vital contributions of the outstanding leaders who made these scholarship awards possible.

Leighton M. Ballew Directing Scholarship Award

SETC’s Leighton M. Ballew Directing Scholarship Award gives $3,000 to a student to study directing at a regionally accredited graduate school. Applications for the 2016 scholarship closed September 22, 2015. Learn More »

Denise Halbach Performance Scholarship Award 

SETC’s Denise Halbach Performance Scholarship Award gives $2,000 to a student to study acting or musical theatre at a regionally accredited graduate program. We are accepting applications for the 2016 scholarship until April 30, 2015. Learn More »

Marian A. Smith Costume Scholarship Award 

SETC’s Marion A. Smith Costume Scholarship Award gives $1,500 to a student pursuing a graduate degree in costume design and/or technology at a regionally accredited program. We are accepting applications for the 2016 scholarship until January 21, 2016. Learn More »

William E. Wilson Scholarship Award
