In 2017, the Institute of Outdoor Theatre transitioned into its new partnership and management relationship with SETC. SETC is maintaining and building upon services that have long been valued by the outdoor theatre community, including Summer and Outdoor Theatre Auditions, an annual national conference, year-round consulting, and online resources.

National Conference on Outdoor Theatre
Each October, theatre leaders convene for a multi-day networking event where conference attendees trade insights and explore new concepts. It is an opportunity to meet others in the industry and share experiences. Due to the Covid-19 crisis, this year’s conference was provided virtually at a reduced cost to attendees. The virtual event was attended by more than 100 theatre enthusiasts in the industry and took place Oct. 1 – 2, 2020.

Summer and Outdoor Theatre Auditions
SETC Summer & Outdoor Theatre Auditions Moved to March 2021
Due to COVID-19, the Summer & Outdoor Theatre Auditions, originally scheduled for January 15-16, 2021, will be moved to March 26-27, 2021. A survey informed SETC that the professional companies prefer the possibility of an in-person audition in March versus a virtual one in January. The city and venue will be announced at a later date.
SETC Outdoor Theatre hosts auditions for summer and outdoor theatres looking to cast acting, singing, dancing and stage combat positions. Interviews are also available for technical positions and internship opportunities. Both outdoor and indoor theatres are invited to participate. Click the link below to learn about these auditions.
Theatre Consulting Network
SETC and the Institute of Outdoor Theatre have combined their consulting and technical assistance programs in a new initiative: the Theatre Consulting Network. The Theatre Consulting Network will draw on the resources of a national network of theatre specialists to advise organizations on a comprehensive range of issues.
