Undergraduate BFA Design Tech Program

The Greensboro College Theatre Department’s Undergraduate BFA Program of NC is searching for a Full Time Assistant Professor Technical Director/Sound Designer beginning Fall 2024.

Other Designer Roles and specialties are welcomed as well. Such as TD/Set Design.

Greensboro College has a 12,000 square foot Production Studio Scene Shop, with plenty of storage for Scenery and Properties located within walking distance of the campus.

Two main theatre spaces of a 788 seat Proscenium Stage, and a 102 seat Thrust Theatre with Black Box capabilities. 6-9 Productions an Academic year.

GC’s Properties Undergraduate Program was Nationally recognized by URTA in 2022.

-Requirements;

Masters degree or higher with prior Collegiate/University teaching experience, or equivalent work experience in Professional Theatre Technical Direction, and/or Designing Productions.

General computer skills and proficiency in digital drafting and related technologies. Greensboro College uses and teaches AutoCAD.

Excellent communication skills, as well as cordial collaborative skills with both faculty and student directors and designers.

Production Management budgeting & Scheduling.

Valid Driver’s License and personal motor vehicle transportation.

Ability to lift, push, or maneuver 50-70 lbs.

Ability to climb and work safely on ladders and Genie Lift.

Ability to drive 20 to 26-foot rental box trucks for load-ins and strikes per each show/production.

Knowledge of carpentry, theatre construction standards, engineering, rigging, and basic welding skills, etc.
