Harding University welcomes mission-aligned applicants for a full-time, twelve-month staff Technical Director. The Technical Director oversees the day-to-day operation of the scene shop in the Ulrey Performing Arts Center and serves as an important part of the Theatre Department’s production team. This role coordinates scenic construction and rigging needs for all theatre events and works closely with the Production Manager, directors, and designers to help projects move from concept to completion.

The Technical Director collaborates with the production team to develop budgets, timelines, and resource plans that support successful productions. The position also provides CAD drawings and technical support to faculty and staff during the design and implementation process.

Additional responsibilities include overseeing entertainment rigging across performance spaces, maintaining shop equipment and supplies, and managing the purchase of construction materials and paint supplies. The Technical Director supports lighting and sound systems as needed and supervises shop staff and student workers, helping to create a safe, productive, and collaborative environment.

This position also collaborates with in-house audio and lighting staff, as well as outside event vendors for the two main event venues on campus to support departmental and university special events.
