The Electrics Apprentice reports to the Production Manager and Production Electrician as a member of the production staff to implement all lighting needs for a season of programming in four distinct venues, an educational touring arm and special events. Apprenticeships are seasonal appointments, with the possibility of renewal for a second season, and are designed to create access to entry level jobs to assist young practitioners in building skill and experience as they start their careers.

Responsibilities:

Assist the Production Electrician with general organization and maintenance of all lighting equipment, hang, focus, and programming for each production. 
Assist with channel checks and perform routine maintenance during the run of productions.
Work as Light Board Operator for productions as assigned throughout the season.
Attend production and department meetings as assigned
Participate in the upkeep and cleanliness of work spaces and maintenance of equipment in order to maintain an efficient and safe work environment

·         Strong communication skills

Working theatrical knowledge in the Apprentice’s area of focus – this position should possess basic knowledge of theatrical lighting systems, instruments, and equipment (ETC Ion console, networking, cabling, circuiting, etc).
Working knowledge of lighting and drafting software and the ability to read ground plans, sections, elevations, plots and supporting paperwork (channel hookups, dimmer plots, magic sheets, etc.)
Comfortable with power and hand tools associated with work in the electrics department
Working knowledge of Microsoft and Google Suite
Ability to work independently and complete tasks as instructed and on time
Ability to troubleshoot and adapt throughout the production process
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record a plus, but not required for all apprenticeships
Understanding of industry safety and OSHA regulations for live performances
Comfortable working at heights on ladders, lifts, fly rail and grid
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods and work in low light situations
A strong desire and commitment to personal learning and growing through hands on work opportunity and professional mentorship

This position is eligible for annual and sick leave, participation in company health, life, dental and vision insurance plans, as well as our 403(b) retirement plan. Rate of pay is $14.00/hour for 40 hours per week. Overtime, if incurred, will be paid at time and a half in this non-exempt position. Employment begins on 8/27/24.
