Winthrop University, a highly ranked, public, comprehensive university, announces a national search for a program director and Assistant/ Associate Professor of Arts Administration. The qualified candidate will teach courses within their area of expertise in the master’s degree and/ or undergraduate minor in Arts Administration. The ideal candidate has a record of effective administrative leadership, excellent teaching, scholarship, and meaningful professional stewardship. The program director serves as a member of the college administrative leadership team, reporting to the dean and works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and the department chairs of design, theatre and dance, music, and fine arts to develop and implement strategic initiatives, curricula, and policies.

This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track, 3-year teaching appointment with reassigned time granted for administrative responsibilities and the possibility of renewal based on performance, programmatic need, and availability of funding. The program director will have daily contact with students, faculty, and staff on campus and be available to work evenings and some weekends. Candidates should have the desire to teach in an interdisciplinary, diverse, and highly collaborative environment. Rank and salary are dependent on qualifications.

The Master of Arts Administration (MAAA) is offered as a fully online graduate program. There is also an online graduate certificate, and an undergraduate in seat minor offered in Arts Administration. The graduate program combines current theory, academic research and applied practice to help students become effective leaders and work with professional skill, creative initiative, and humane integrity in diverse arts environments. Winthrop University is a member of the Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE), the international professional organization that promotes standards of education in arts administration. The MAAA program is also accredited by the National Association of School of Art and Design (NASAD).
